The New Phoenix Casino of La Center will close on Sunday. John Bockmier, the spokesperson of the casino said that the casino which was opened back in 1991 will no longer work. The casino chapter will be closed now.
The casino is closing due to many factors. One is because of diminishing sales and another factor is because of employee. Most of the employee of the casino went to Ilani Casino, which still remains open for public operations.
The spokesman said that “our labor pool is diminishing and many employees left us to Ilani Casino resort”. He said it is a very skilled job and there are very few people who can do the job in better manner.
He said that employees were told on Wednesday that the casino will close on Sunday. Meanwhile another casino working in the area known as the Last Frontier casino will remain open for public. The casino is owned by George Teeny along with New Phoenix.
The $510 million casino of The Cowlitz Tribe is in 368,000 square feet area. The tribe broke the ground for the casino in January 2016 which has over 1,000 permanent workers. There are 75 gambling tables available at the casino, which employees hundreds of casino workers.
The spokesman of the New Phoenix Casino said that the casino saw a slowdown in customers due to construction around interstate 5, which is located near new casino.
According to the casino the tribes were agreed to rebuild the exit 16 interchange to accommodate as estimated 4.5 million customers a year.
Bockmier said that sales have reduced because of construction on the interchance for mnths and that’s causes concern for traffic.
This would be the second casino in the area getting closed in past three years. Another casino of the region known as Chips Casino owned by Steve Michels, was closed back in 2014.
